Stephanie & Ben at Silverholme

Surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of Lake Windermere, Stephanie and Ben celebrated their love at Silverholme.

Stephanie & Ben reminisce:

What first attracted you to your wedding venue and what made you decide that it would be perfect for your special day?

“What first attracted us to Silverholme was the incredible connection to the outdoors. We fell in love with lake Windermere, the surrounding fells and the feeling that nature was such a big part of the setting.

We wanted our wedding to feel relaxed, natural and completely connected to the beautiful landscape around us, rather than feeling too formal or traditional.

We also loved that Silverholme gave us the opportunity to have so many of our closest family all under one roof for the weekend. Being able to wake up, celebrate and spend time together in such a special place made it feel much more like a whole weekend of memories than just one day. Ultimately, it was the atmosphere that won us over. It felt peaceful and intimate, while still giving us the freedom to make the space our own.”

Who was your chosen Photographer and why did you choose them?

“Our chosen wedding photographer was Anna from Fellside Weddings, and we knew almost immediately that she was the person we wanted to capture our day. We have always felt happiest surrounded by nature and the outdoors, and Anna has such a genuine love and appreciation for the landscape too. We loved the way she sees nature and captures not just how beautiful it looks, but how it feels to be there.

What made it even more special was Anna herself. She was so warm, kind and personable from the very beginning, and it felt like having someone we genuinely connected with there to capture such an important day in our lives. She made us feel completely at ease and brought such a lovely personal touch to everything she did.”

Can you tell me about your theme if you had one, the inspiration behind it and how you incorporated it into your wedding?

“Our wedding theme was inspired by nature and the beautiful outdoors. We wanted the landscape around Silverholme to be the theme itself, allowing the lakes, fells and surrounding woodland to take centre stage. We chose a natural palette of soft greens and whites, with our florist creating romantic, forest-inspired arrangements using foliage and seasonal flowers. The flowers were designed to feel as though they belonged in the landscape, rather than being overly formal or structured.

We carried this natural, relaxed feeling throughout the day, from the floral arrangements to the way we embraced the outdoor setting for photographs and spending time with our guests. We wanted everything to feel effortless, romantic and connected to the place we had chosen to get married.”

How did your venue ensure everything ran smoothly in preparation for the big day?

“Vanessa, our host and the manager of Silverholme, was incredible from the moment she showed us around the venue in November last year. She answered all our questions promptly and helped make us feel at ease throughout the whole process. We were given recommended suppliers which we took advantage of and were all amazing prior to and on the day.

Vanessa even walked with me as the bride to the ceremony, which was such a lovely and personal touch during a very emotional moment.

It was the little things, the calm support and the willingness to go the extra mile that made such a difference. Vanessa even let us check in early, which meant we had more preparation time and more time to spend with our families before the big day.”

If you could pick one word to describe your wedding, what would it be and why?

“If we had to choose one word to describe our wedding, it would be joyful. From the moment we woke up, the whole day just felt incredibly happy. It was emotional, beautiful, funny and completely full of love, but most of all, it felt like us. We were surrounded by the people we love most, in a place that felt so special, with the Lake District landscape all around us.

There were so many little moments that we wish we could relive — walking towards each other at the ceremony, laughing with our friends, being with our families and simply taking a moment to look around and realise that everyone we love was there to celebrate us.”
